WAM by Karma
Demirbükü, Bodrum, Türkiye · 2026
Two rope artworks for WAM by Karma in Bodrum: Karma, a suspended sculpture of orange rope loops, and Mavi, a blue wall piece woven by hand. One holds the air, the other the stone.
Karma
A single line of twisted rope opens into a cascade of bright orange loops, each knotted and shaped by hand. Hung from above, it changes as you walk around and beneath it.
Mavi
Mavi, Turkish for blue: a dense field of rope in blue, navy, black and cream, woven by hand on a wire base, with small flashes of orange and red that carry Karma's colour into the blue.
Karma and Mavi, together
The two pieces share one tall, stone-walled space. One is line and air; the other is surface and depth.

The brief
WAM by Karma, short for We Are Mediterranean, opened in 2026 on the bay of Demirbükü, near Gölköy in Bodrum. The house is built from local stone and pale plaster. At its centre is a tall, stone-walled space seen from the floors above. It needed work that would read as art rather than decoration: made by hand, strong in colour, and able to hold a quiet vertical space.
Our approach
Dimare answered with two pieces that speak to each other across the space. Karma hangs from above: a single line of twisted rope that opens into a cascade of bright orange loops, each knotted and shaped by hand, so the piece changes as you walk around and beneath it. Mavi, Turkish for blue, sits on the stone wall: a dense field of rope in blue, navy, black and cream, woven by hand on a wire base, with small flashes of orange and red that carry Karma's colour into the blue. One is line and air; the other is surface and depth. Both were designed and made in Dimare's atelier in Antalya.
